We are looking for an enthusiastic digital social media marketing intern to join our society and help to provide creative ideas to achieve our goals. Your creative contribution will help develop, expand and maintain our marketing channels. You will work with the staff to improve website design and efficiencies as well as assist with analytics. In this position you will be tasked with a variety of digital and social media strategies that will ultimately help you gain experience to enter into the workforce upon completion of your degree. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a practical contribution to our vision. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the manager to create social media campaigns that help to better deploy our conservation messages on a variety of platforms.
  • help to improve our design of our web pages in order to deliver more impactful messages and to improve efficiencies throughout the site. Creating landing pages.
  • Develop content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis for the company
  • Analyze and create analytics to gauge the success of campaigns
  • Work with the manager to strategize about possible online events and activities
  • Create social media campaign for Adopt-A-Critter donation packages
  • Assist in online ZooNews newsletter
  • Assist in developing email campaigns for specific projects
  • Possibility of doing some video content which would require video editing skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Familiarity with email marketing software such as MailChimp
  • Analyze and create analytics to gauge the success of campaigns
  • Comfortable and experienced with WordPress (CMS)
  • Familiarity with Adobe PhotoShop and/or Canva
  • Competent with a variety of social media platforms especially Facebook, Instagram and Linked In
  • Having your own laptop is an asset, but not necessary.
  • Video marketing and editing skills is an asset, but not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is required.
  • Excellent English language skills, including the ability to understand and interpret sometimes complex information, and to communicate to others (spoken and written) in clear, plain language.
  • You can commit to 12 consecutive weeks working remotely from June 15th to September 4th. In-office meetings may be required from time to time.
  • Must be prepared to take on several projects with little supervision

We are looking to recruit through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the program.

In accordance with the Canada Summer Jobs program, all applicants must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.

*The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
