The Saskatoon Zoo Society is a non-profit charitable organization that conducts environmental education programs at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.  There are board positions of which the Saskatoon Zoo Society relies on volunteers to donate their time and support to a worthwhile cause. Other opportunities such as interpretive and event volunteers come available from time to time. Read below for more information.

About Our Volunteers:

Founded in 1976, the Saskatoon Zoo Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to stimulating interest in animals, wildlife, and environmental conservation. The Society coordinates a wide variety of educational programs at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. The success of these programs is due, in no small part, to a group of dedicated volunteers.

The City of Saskatoon is working with the Saskatoon Zoo Society and other organizations on-site to develop a comprehensive volunteer program at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. This is still in the planning stages, but we will post up information as it becomes available.
In the interim, the Saskatoon Zoo Society requires volunteers for the following areas:

Seasonal Investigation Station interpreters Summer 2021:
Application period is now closed. Please join us next summer! The Saskatoon Zoo Society is looking for volunteer interpreters to staff our Investigation Station at the Zoo,  Wednesday to Sunday  (June 30th to the September long weekend). Note: these positions do not entail working with the Zoo’s animal collection. We highly encourage you to attend our Zoo tour and biofact training session BEFORE you start volunteering.  Our session will be held on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Board members:
Interested parties are asked to submit a resume to board@saskatoonzoosociety.ca. AGM is typically held in March.

Summer 2021 Volunteer Opportunities:

Investigation Station interpreters (this involves working with our biological artefacts – horns, antlers, tracks, scat, skulls, etc). This requires an individual to engage with the public and our artefacts. A good grasp of the English language is required for this position. (No animal contact opportunities are available).
Requirements: 16 or older, must have a current police security check with the vulnerable sector search. The Saskatoon Zoo Society provides a letter at the training session that will enable you to get this check done at the police station free of charge.
Training session:  A socially-distanced, outdoor Zoo tour and biofact training session will be held on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. We ask that all potential volunteers for this summer click on the link above and fill out our volunteer form. Participants must wear a mask.
Volunteer position duration: June 30th to the Labour Day long weekend . Wednesday – Sundays and holiday Mondays.  We ask that volunteers commit to at least 4 (2.5-hour) shifts during the summer.

The Saskatoon Zoo Society invites interested individuals to apply to become board members. Potential board members (volunteer position) are asked to submit a resume directly to board@saskatoonzoosociety.ca.  Voting takes place at the AGM which is held in March every year.

Special Event Volunteers

These are volunteers that assist with special events and fundraising activities.

Special Event Volunteers are assigned roles such as ticket sellers, parking attendants, food preparation and serving, activity supervisors, etc. The time commitment ranges from two to six hours per event.
