A BIG thank you to all the supporters of the Saskatoon Zoo Society. With you, we’re able to accomplish many incredible things.
Cameco:
Cameco has generously agreed to be our title sponsor once again for our Cameco Family Day at the Zoo. Celebrating 30 years, this fun family event has helped to provide funds for our very popular environmental education programs and camps. This year, Cameco has donated plush bison for the first 200 children that attend the event on Sunday, July 17th. Also, as this is the Saskatoon Zoo Society’s 40th anniversary year and this event has been running for 30 years, we are giving away some “extra” prizes throughout the event.
PotashCorp:
PotashCorp is sponsoring children to attend our summer zoo camp program free of charge! With so many new Canadians and families struggling to make ends meet, we are very proud to team up with PotashCorp to provide children with a “wild” summer experience at our zoo camps.
Human Resources Skills and Development Canada (Federal Government):
This program allows the Saskatoon Zoo Society to hire two summer staff in the education department to handle the overwhelming number of education program requests we receive in May and June. These staff will also lead our summer zoo camps. Without the support of staffing grants, we’d be unable to accommodate all the education program requests.
Canadian Museums Association (Young Canada Works program through the Federal Government):
The Saskatoon Zoo Society was able to hire one more staff through this employee grant. Delivering education programs requires a lot of staff. Without the support of employee grants, our summer programming would be limited.
SaskTel:
SaskTel funded 9 classes to attend a full day at the Zoo. The Saskatoon Zoo Society runs four different full day programs for a variety of grade levels. We run math and health at the Zoo, Biodiversity at the Zoo, Art at the Zoo and Classification at the Zoo. In each of these programs, the class is at the Zoo for the entire day. SaskTel sponsors both the program fee and the bus cost for these 9 classes.
